What should I do if I slip and fall at work during the busy holiday season?

If you slip and fall while on the job—especially during the hectic holiday season—you should:

  1. Report the injury immediately to your supervisor. Waiting too long can delay or hurt your claim.
  2. Get medical attention right away, even if the injury seems minor.
  3. Document the scene (take photos and note what caused your fall).
  4. File a workers’ compensation claim as soon as possible.

Falls in workplaces like retail stores, warehouses, and restaurants are common during the holidays due to spills, crowded walkways, and overworked staff. You may be entitled to workers’ comp benefits for your treatment and lost wages. If a third party—like a cleaning contractor or property manager—was responsible, you may also have a separate personal injury claim.
