What are my rights under OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)?

OSHA provides regulations to ensure workplace safety. As an employee, you have several important rights:

  1. Safe Working Environment: You have the right to a workplace free from recognized hazards that can cause death or serious harm.
  2. Training: You are entitled to receive training in a language and vocabulary you understand about workplace hazards, safety methods, and OSHA standards.
  3. Information Access: You have the right to access information about workplace injuries and illnesses, safety procedures, and exposure to hazardous materials.
  4. Report Hazards: You can report unsafe conditions to OSHA without fear of retaliation. This includes requesting an OSHA inspection if you believe there are unsafe or unhealthful conditions.
  5. Protection from Retaliation: Your employer cannot retaliate against you for exercising your OSHA rights. This includes reporting hazards, filing complaints, and participating in OSHA inspections.
